M 015 - Co-requisite Support for M115 Probability and Linear Math or M140 College Math for Healthcare Credit(s): 1
Prerequisite(s): appropriate placement test score, a grade of “C-” or better in M 094~ , a grade of “A-” or better in M 065~ , or Math Department consent. Corequisite(s): M 115 or M 140 . This course provides support in achieving the M115 or M140 learning outcomes. The support will be provided through extra instruction of basic math concepts at the beginning of the semester as well as a more detailed and in depth look at M115 and M140 topics throughout the semester. (Fall and Spring Semesters)
Course Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the course, students will be able to
- Read mathematical material and translate, using correct mathematical notation.
- Understand how to manipulate fractions.
- Calculate measures of center and spread.
- Calculate conditional probabilities and probabilities of independent events.
- Understand, solve, and model situations using linear equations, including systems of linear equations.
- Understand the general multiplication principal and other counting techniques.
- Read and understand probability distributions.
