NRSG 233 - Foundations of Nursing Laboratory Credit(s): 3
Prerequisite(s): BIOH 201 , CHMY 121 , M 140 , WRIT 101 , and acceptance into the Registered Nursing ASN program. Corequisite(s): NRSG 232 . An integration of lab experiences focusing on psychomotor nursing skills needed to assist individuals in meeting basic human needs. Application of the nursing process hands-on learning experiences for nursing skills, patient assessments, nutritional safety, and basic therapeutic skills are practiced and demonstrated. (Fall and Spring Semesters)
Course Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the course, students will be able to - Function within the role of the RN nurse, incorporating professional, legal and ethical guidelines, to demonstrate collaborative, patient-centered, safe, culturally competent, and holistic patient care in the simulated healthcare setting.
- Apply nursing process, evidence-based practices and critical thinking techniques to develop the patient’s plan of care.
- Demonstrate individual accountability, professionalism and safety for self and patient during the performance of nursing skills.
- Demonstrate concepts learned in the NRSG 232 lab setting.
