HEO 105 - Introduction to Heavy Equipment Operator

This course introduces students to equipment worksite safety, grade stake interpretation, and soil composition and characteristics. Students will also be introduced to the operation of dump trucks, skid steers, dozers, excavators, backhoes, loaders, scrapers, and motor graders to the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) standards. (Fall Semester)

Course Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the course, students will be able to

Operate to the NCCER standards: skid steer, dozer, loader, excavator, backhoe, motor grader.
Correctly interpret engineering construction stakes and grades.
Identify construction soil types, composition, and compaction requirements.
