CSTN 160 is an intensive lab course bridging theory and practical application in a cohesive building experience. Students master OSHA/NCCER safety standards and hand/power tools. The core focus is on planning and constructing structural components: interpreting blueprints to accurately build basic floor and wall framing systems. The course emphasizes teamwork, communication, and workflow coordination. (Fall and Spring Semesters)

Course Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the course, students will be able to

Execute construction tasks safely and professionally by applying OSHA and NCCER safety standards, demonstrating proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and accurately identifying, handling, and maintaining all essential tools.
Construct foundational framing systems by interpreting technical drawings and specifications, accurately measuring and cutting materials, and properly installing wall and floor framing components under supervision.
Collaborate and reflect on professional performance by effectively coordinating workflow in a team environment to complete a student-led project and documenting individual skill development and daily progress.
