CSTN 142 is an advanced hands-on course covering interior and exterior finish elements for residential/commercial structures. The focus is on precision, quality, and code adherence. Instruction covers roofing, cladding (siding), wooden stairs, and the professional installation of doors, and windows. Students are introduced to drywall, floor coverings, and trim, emphasizing safe use of specialized finish tools. (Fall and Spring Semesters)

Course Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the course, students will be able to

Install exterior and interior finish systems by correctly laying out and applying roofing, exterior cladding (siding), drywall, various interior trim, floor coverings, and discussing suspended ceiling procedures.
Construct and fit specialized components by laying out, building, and finishing wooden stair and landing systems, and installing windows, doors, and related trim to specification.
Analyze materials for interior and exterior applications by describing the availability and appropriate use of building materials for various finish applications.
Maintain and utilize associated power tools by safely and confidently operating and maintaining portable and stationary power tools used in the fabrication and installation of finish products.
