THTR 102F - Introduction to Theatre Design Credit(s): 3
This course provides a basic understanding of the principles of design for the theatre including the production elements of scenery, sound, digital media and lighting. (Spring Semester)
Course Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the course, students will be able to
- Demonstrate understanding of the fundamental principles, processes, techniques, and terminology used in scenic, lighting, sound, and digital design for theatre.
- Analyze a text to demonstrate aesthetic literacy in the planning, preparation, and organization of design elements that contribute to a performance.
- Utilize fundamental skills, such as sketching, to represent and create original design ideas.
- Communicate a design vision and its theoretical basis to other members of a creative team.
- Examine and explore the role of theatre design as an expression of personal or cultural themes.
