The background and theories of theatre arts, appreciation of the theatre and dramatic literature, and the practical aspects of producing a play are explored. (Intermittently)
Course Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the course, students will be able to
- Utilize foundational acting techniques and media (voice, body, text) to create and express an original or scripted performance.
- Apply basic design principles and techniques to create an original theatrical design (e.g., set, costume, light) that explores a specific theme or text.
- Analyze, critique, and construct meanings from dramatic works and live performances, using the language and terminology of theatre.
- Examine how theatre from diverse cultures and historical periods explores the nature of human experience and reflects social or cultural issues.
