This course is an introduction to the tools, techniques, and materials of the professional jeweler/metalsmith with emphasis on the design and production of jewelry objects. (Fall Semester)

Course Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the course, students will be able to

Utilize basic tools and techniques of the professional jeweler properly and safely, including cold connections, silver soldering, and basic stone setting for non-faceted stones.
Apply various surface embellishment techniques to jewelry projects.
Design and fabricate original works of jewelry that express individual creativity.
Explore personal or cultural themes through the design and creation of jewelry.
