This course is an introduction to the tools, techniques, and materials of the professional jeweler/metalsmith with emphasis on the design and production of jewelry objects. (Fall Semester)

Course Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the course, students will be able to
  • Utilize basic tools and techniques of the professional jeweler properly and safely, including cold connections, silver soldering, and basic stone setting for non-faceted stones.
  • Apply various surface embellishment techniques to jewelry projects.
  • Design and fabricate original works of jewelry that express individual creativity.
  • Explore personal or cultural themes through the design and creation of jewelry.
