COLS 106 - Financial Literacy for College: Summer Experience Credit(s): 1
Prerequisite(s): COLS 105 and enrollment in Running Start Summer Experience program. This course provides pre-collegiate students with financial success strategies for college, and exposure to college costs, financial aid, and scholarship processes. Students will participate in community service learning and experiential activities and evaluate how their personal values may impact their college and financial choices. (Summer Semester)
Course Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the course, students will be able to - Describe the financial implications of a college education, through improved financial literacy.
- Identify potential colleges and examine financial costs and academic opportunities.
- Explore, evaluate and articulate personal and social values.
- Analyze how personal and cultural values may impact college and financial decisions.
- Describe how service learning activities can have a positive impact on local social problems.
- Demonstrate group communication and leadership skills.
- Create a professional resume.
- Write a scholarship/college admissions essay.
