Prerequisite(s): SRVY 270 . Corequisite(s): SRVY 247 , SRVY 271 . Instruction and practice in basic road design techniques: review of horizontal and vertical curve calculations; spiral curves; P-line staking; earthwork and mass diagram calculations; slope staking. (Spring Semester)
Course Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the course, students will be able to - Perform field work associated with basic road design and construction.
- Calculate and stake out horizontal, vertical, and spiral curves.
- Perform office work associated with basic road design to include reducing notes, plotting X-sections, calculating areas and volumes, and preparing plan/profile/mass diagram drawings.
