PSCI 250B - Introduction to Political Theory Credit(s): 3
This course analyzes the various attempts (from Plato to Marx) to explain, instruct, and justify the distribution of political power in society. Emphasis is placed upon those theories whose primary concern is to define the nature of the ethical “good” society. (Spring and Summer Semesters)
Course Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the course, students will be able to - Discuss the main contributions of the long political theory debate in Western Civilization.
- Compare the diverse strands of thought which have created the modern political world.
- Consider the individual ethical choices involved in political panaceas for a “good society.”
