ECNS 210 - The Economics of Health Care

This course applies microeconomic tools to the study of health care systems.  The unique features of health care as a commodity are explored as well as the demand for health and medical care services, the economic incentives behind the behavior of medical care providers, and the functioning of health insurance markets in the provision of health care services.  The role of government in the provision and financing of health care is also explored, and current proposals for health care reform are analyzed.
