DANC 100F - Introduction to Modern Dance Credit(s): 3
Introduction to basic modern dance vocabulary through exercises for alignment, strength and flexibility, and combinations across the floor. (Fall Semester)
Course Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the course, students will be able to
- Describe Modern Dance as a form of expression.
- Increase awareness and confidence in the moving body by application of dance warm up, improvisation, technique and phrase work.
- Find artistry in each body by recognizing natural musicality: breath, weight, gravity, momentum.
- Create and develop unique movement sequences, collaboratively organizing that material into a dance.
- Evaluate and objectively discuss dance performance (including technique and expression).
- Defend a broad appreciation of dance.
