  Introduction to basic strengthening and stretching exercises and stylistic characteristics of jazz. (Spring Semester)
  Course Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the course, students will be able to  
	- Explain the core concepts of syncopation, line and extension, grounded/weighted versus light, spatiality, polycentric and polyrhythmic performance, and personal expression as they related to jazz
 
	- Explore rhythmic range within the body in relation to music.
 
	- Explain the African roots of Jazz dance.
 
	- Investigate the dynamic edge of physical kinesphere.
 
	- Shift energetic qualities based on how/where they occur in the body.
 
	- Explore body patterns with multiple centers and rhythms to inform performance & personal expression, discovering individual personality and style within the form.
