SRVY 153 - The Land Surveyor’s Career Path

In this interactive course, students explore the rich history, current practices, and career opportunities in land surveying. The course begins with an overview of major milestones and the evolution of land surveying techniques; transitions to present-day experiences and methodologies, including current technologies; and finally, investigates diverse career paths and future possibilities that may arise in land surveying. This course offers a broad perspective of land surveying, equipping students with the knowledge to appreciate its past, engage with its present, and plan a future in land surveying. (Fall Semester)

Course Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the course, students will be able to
  • Explore the diverse history of land surveying and how it impacted our world.
  • Reflect on case studies to identify lessons and best practices in the surveying profession.
