AHST 216 - Surgical Techniques II Credit(s): 3
Prerequisite(s): AHST 116 , AHST 201 . Corequisite(s): AHST 202 , AHST 250 , and BIOH 113 . A continuation of AHST 116 , this course presents a study of basic patient care and advocacy in the peri-operative setting as performed by the surgical technologist, emphasizing medical terminology, pharmacological and anesthesia applications, environmental and workplace safety, basic math, weights and measurements, robotics, electricity, and physics, syringes/hypodermic needles, and sterilization methods. In addition, students will present a PowerPoint presentation on a surgical procedure. (Fall Semester)
